ABOUT ME

Hello, I'm Kevin

WHERE I COME FROM

Kevin was born and raised in Ephrata, Pennsylvania for all his life. He was interested in a career in law until high school he realized he could do a lot more in a position of power. Such as the Mayor of the Ephrata Borough. Kevin graduated from high school in the class of 2020 and immediately decided to jump into the ring of local politics. His parents were immigrants who came to America and now he can fulfill the American Dream. Becoming mayor of the Ephrata Borough.

MY EXPERIENCE

Living in Ephrata for over 18 years, Kevin Gudala has plenty of experience living in the town of Ephrata. Although Ephrata is small, there are many things to do. From visiting the local theater to enjoying fried Oreos at the fair, he believes that this town is capable of so much more. During his years in high school, he's been involved in many debates in the classroom, running for student council, and joining multiple clubs. He was on the Ephrata Quiz Bowl team, the Boys' Tennis team, and the Robotics club. He also did Marching band for 4 years and learned leadership through it.

MY PASSION

Why is he running for mayor? It's simple: He's loved this community since a young age and wants to see his town grow. He went to school in Ephrata, works in a local market, and actively represents the kind of mayor he hopes to become. He's attending the PA College of Health Sciences and is majoring in Surgical Technology. He cares very much about health care in the community, which is why he wants to tackle water toxicity in his campaign.

MY PLATFORM

Equity Meets Opportunity

Taxes on the sun:

The borough is putting tax meters between the solar panels and wants to meter what comes off of it and take 1/3 of every kilowatt produced. So in the end, the owners get 2/3 of what their panels actually produce. Unfortunately, this issue has been brought up to the borough and nothing was done about it. Light needs to be shown unto this problem and must be dealt with. Paying taxes for electricity the owner is producing, is simply, unacceptable.

Government Transparency:

The Ephrata Borough must start making decisions openly instead of behind closed doors. There have been multiple cases where they've said one thing in a meeting, then when the next meeting is set, the decisions already made. Cases like the generator being placed in close proximity to the creek. Nobody actually knew about that until it was brought up to their attention when the EADC went around town letting them know about the problem. The borough also needs to update its website. It's extremely outdated and the citizens should probably know what their elected officials actually look like.

Water Quality:

According to the Environmental Working Group’s zip code search tool, our borough, unfortunately, has multiple carcinogens in the water supply. The chlorine, originally used to purify it, actually breaks down and causes those carcinogens to develop. Now, a solution like setting up a reverse-osmosis system in every household, cannot be done by the borough. However, steps can be taken to let our local politicians know that this is a REAL problem.
